So yesterday the Make Me Read It Readathon (Hosted @ The Innocent Smiley) came to a close, and I have to say, it was so much fun! This is the first readathon I have ever participated in, and I managed to read 4 novels. The novels I read were chosen by you, and you did not steer me wrong.
The books I read were:
Cinder - Marissa Meyer
Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell
Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins
Throne of Glass - Sarah J Maas

So I am taking a break from the Made Me Read It Readathon this lovely Friday evening to present to you another Flashback Friday, where I basically dredge up an old favourite that you may or may not have heard about, that I feel deserves a bit of renewed appreciation and love.

Thursday Quotables: Eleanor & Park

Hosted @ Bookshelf Fantasies.

So I'm going for something a tad different this week. Usually (ok yeah I've only joined in TQ once before) the idea is to post a good quote or passage from your current read. Cool. Except my current read isn't exactly my favourite book I've ever read. I loathe insta-love. And that is what this book is riding on. So, obviously, we're not going to be best friends.

Now first off let's clarify what I categorise as insta-love. Basically, for me, instal-love is any romantic connection that makes a giant leap from enemies, friends, acquaintances, strangers etc. to oh-my-god-I-can't-live-without-you-let-me-have-your-babies-I-never-want-to-be-apart-from-you-as-long-as-we-both-shall-live-kinda-love. So this first quote is a whole 71 pages deep into the novel. So far, Eleanor & Park have had all of three or four stilted bus ride conversations. Their entire friendship, if we'll call it that, exists on the bus. But still, I digress, here we are. (71 pages in):
He didn't look up. He wound the scarf around his fingers until her hand was hanging in the space between them.
Then he slid the silk and his fingers into her open palm.
And Eleanor disintegrated.
Ok. That's sweet I guess. But then, in the space of 29 pages, all of a sudden we go from weird hand holding sort of friends to this:
"I don't like you, Park," she said, sounding for a second like she actually meant it. "I..." - her voice nearly disappeared - "think I live for you."C

Call me cynical, but this is just a whole lot of cringe for me. Oh yeah, and there is the part where she bites him, too. Not weird at all. I'll save that one for the review. I'll post that after I'm done with the Make Me Read It Readathon.

Next week I will be participating in my first ever read-a-thon, the "Make Me Read It Read-a-thon"! This read-a-thon is being hosted by Val @ The Innocent Smiley and will be running from 8am Monday 20th July until 12am Monday 27th June. I am so excited, however I need some help. I have way too many books on my TBR to choose from right now.

So, here is how it is going to work:

I have compiled a poll with my current TBR list. But, I need some help deciding which books to read, and in what order. That's where you come in! Just vote for the book you think I should read the most! Maybe it is a book you have read, and loved; maybe it is a book you want to see reviewed on The Nook! I will be doing a recap and then reviews of all the books I finish in the read-a-thon.

xo Siobhan.

To follow me as I join in this read-a-thon you can follow me on twitter and instagram. I will try and update here with my progress mid week, but the best place to interact will be on social media.

Please, vote for your favourite. If you're joining in let me know in the comments so that I can follow your read-a-thon too!
